Chevrolet Announces Pricing on 34mpg 2009 Aveo & Aveo5 hatch

Just when average fuel prices in the U.S. top the $4 mark, Chevrolet came out and announced pricing on its 2009 Aveo lineup that includes the redesigned Aveo5 five-door hatchback. Prices begin at $12,120 (including a $660 destination charge) for the Aveo LS and Aveo5 LS while the better equipped Aveo sedan and Aveo5 LT models start at $14,255 for 1LT trim and $15,520 for 2LT trim (including destination charges).

Both models are equipped with a new, more powerful 1.6L Ecotec engine delivering an output of 107Hp and EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 26mpg in the city and 34mpg on the highway when combined with a manual transmission. City mileage ratings with the automatic are 25 mpg.

Chevy to Introduce All-New Compact Car With 1.4-liter Turbo & New Aveo in 2010

Chevy will step up its efforts in strengthening its lineup of fuel-efficient cars with the addition of an all new compact-sized vehicle along with the introduction of a successor to the Aveo subcompact. The announcement was made today during GM’s annual stockholder meeting by the company’s CEO, Rick Wagoner.

The yet unnamed compact-sized vehicle, which could replace the Cobalt in Chevy’s line-up, will represent the first U.S. application of GM’s global architecture strategy. Production will begin in mid-2010 at GM's Lordstown, Ohio, plant and according to Wagoner, the new compact will be pure Chevrolet in design, and will feature the 1.4-liter turbocharged version of GM's global four-cylinder engine –see here. GM expects that with this engine and a manual transmission, the new Chevy will deliver a 9 mpg improvement over its current entry in the segment. -Continued

As for the Aveo, Wagoneer noted that GM recently approved the development of next generation model which will be based on a global architecture. GM says that the Aveo is expected to have segment-leading fuel economy when it goes on sale in the U.S. market in the second half of 2010.

Video: Chevrolet Ridicules Citroen’s C4 Transformer Ad

You probably all remember Citroen’s illustrious C4 Transformer TV spots a couple of years ago (click here). Well, GM woke up on the wrong side of the bed one day and decided that it was time to answer back with its new Chevrolet Aveo advert. Even though the car that transforms into a robot is in part a previous generation Ford Focus, it is evident that GM’s intentions are to spoof Citroen’s Transformer ads by addressing its vehicles’ electronic reliability issues. -Video after the jump

Chevrolet Aveo Nipple-Sucking Contest In China!

Wow; who’d ever believe that Chevy’s are so popular in China! Well, either that or something’s definitely wrong with the 120 people that took part in a Chinese Mall’s kissing endurance competition in Beijing. In a nutshell, the participants had to put their lips on the silica gel nipples attached to a Chevrolet Lova (Aveo) without touching it with any other part of their bodies (...). The winner would receive a brand-new Chevy Aveo as a prize. The 120 contestants who took part had to do this for 24-hours taking a mere two 10-minute breaks in the course. -Continued after the jump

After 24 hours, only six contestants were standing or rather sitting, so to speed things up, the coordinators of the event made them suck the Aveo’s nipple add-ons standing on one foot. 27 hours and 40 minutes after the competition had began, real estate saleswoman Zhang Chunying was the only one left sucking the nipples –I’m just dying to make a remark, but I’ll restrain myself… Chunying was so exhausted by her one-night stand with the Aveo that she had to be carried away –sounds like the Aveo and I have a lot in common when it comes to chicks...

Wow! Buy A Real Chevy Aveo, Get A Free Aveo Transformer...

In every cool group of kids, there’s always one outcast. This was my first thought when I saw “Swerve”, the Autobot Transformer that turns into an…. Aveo. This poor Autobot probably gets as much grief about his disguise as you would if you actually bought the Aveo as part of the GM promotion to get your hands on one of the limited 2,000 figurine pieces. The collectible made its way on eBay, but since the bidding has concluded, you’ll have to actually buy (God forbid) the Aveo to get your hands on Swerve. 2008 Chevrolet Aveo: Kalos Redesigned And Renamed

Chevrolet’s European arm will introduce a revised version of the Kalos hatchback at the Frankfurt Show next month. Renamed after its sedan sibling, the Aveo hatch’s most prominent feature is the “up-your face” Chevy grille which gives it a muscular and ultra aggressive look which kinda hides the Kalos’ Korean heritage. Along with the new grille, Daewoo –err, I mean Chevrolet Europe also announced the addition of a new 84Hp 1.2-liter petrol engine in the B-Segment hatch's range. Sales in Europe will start in March 2008. -Press release and one more image after the jump

New Chevrolet Aveo celebrates its world premiere in Frankfurt

  • Striking exterior and high-class interior
  • Launch in Europe as of March 2008
  • Two petrol engines with 84 or 98 hp; manual or automatic transmission

Zurich. Chevrolet Europe will present the Kalos’ successor at the Frankfurt Motor Show (13 to 23 September 2007). The most significant features of this completely reworked model are its striking exterior, its high-class interior and a new, even more efficient petrol engine. Like its notchback stable mate, the new hatchback model will now bear the Aveo name throughout Europe. Sales will start in March 2008.

The Aveo hatchback sports Chevrolet’s new design features, as characterised by the big horizontally split radiator grille with a body-coloured crossbeam and the brand logo sitting prominently in the center. The dynamic detailing includes large, curved, clear-glass headlamps and fog lamps that project like spotlights from the lower part of the bumper. In profile, the body’s prominent shoulder lines catch the eye, while the back of the car is dominated by the solid bumper and the round tail lamps in a clear-glass housing.

There is a choice of two petrol engines: a new 1.2-litre unit with an output of 84 hp, and the existing 1.4-litre engine, which now develops 98 hp and is available with automatic transmission.
