2009 Land Rover Defender 110 SVX: Limited Edition SW Version Revealed

A couple of weeks ago we showed you the full image gallery of Land Rover’s 60th anniversary SVX special edition Defender 90 (3door) SVX model. Today we have the first pictures of the seven-seater 110 (5door station wagon) version of the commemorative SVX that will be offered in a mere 1,800 units worldwide.

Like its three-door counterpart, the Defender 110 SVX is solely available with metallic black paintwork. Distinctive exterior features include a restyled grille surround, tubular side-steps, unique alloy wheels, reinforced aluminium front under shield, clear-lens headlamps and LED reverse/rear fog lights.

Driver Manages to Keep Same Tires for the Equivalent of 5 Trips Around The World

While an average driver keeps the same set of tires for less than 30,000 miles, a British chap named Tim Townsend has managed to complete a whopping 117,000 miles or the equivalent of five trips around the globe, with the same set of rubber on his Land Rover Defender 90! And mind you, Mr Townsend claims that he completed these miles on anything other than a normal road. Even if this story comes from an official press release from Avon tires, you must admit that Mr Townsend’s accomplishment is pretty remarkable. -Continued

Land Rover Defender Dragster!

In all seriousness, this creation is totally absurd, and that’s why we love it! The chopped up Land Rover Defender Series I (built between 1948 and 1958) dragster is powered by a supercharged Ford Cleveland V8 engine delivering approx 800 HP. Even though the Defender dragster has probably the same Cd value of a brick wall, we’d love to see it in action, so if any of you guys have spotted a video of the car, don’t hesitate to send us an e-mail. –More pics after the jump

Distinctive exterior features have a contrasting silver finish, such as the unique 'Defender' and 'SVX' badges, tubular side-steps, and the bold surround for the front grille and new, clear-lens headlamps. All SVX models feature new, 'diamond turned' five-spoke alloy wheels, a reinforced aluminium front undershield and clear LED rear lights.

Inside, the limited edition model is equipped with custom-designed Recaro front seats, distinctive alloy gear knobs, a new audio system (with subwoofer and USB socket), iPod cradle and Garmin satellite navigation. Land Rover will produce a total of 200 Defender SVX vehicles in the UK – 140 two-seat Defender 90 soft-tops and 60 four-seat 90 station wagons. Production of the Defender SVX will start in spring 2008, with deliveries to customers starting from early summer for soft-tops and later in the summer for station wagons. While many of will have either heard or even know from personal experience, that the classic Land Rover Defender is one hell of a capable 4x4 vehicle, sometimes it’s the driver that impresses us and not the car. Watch the video till the end and admire this bloke’s persistence.
