Smoking Hot: Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG TV Ad

What’s the point of buying a 451 Hp rear-wheel-drive model like the V8-powered Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG (see details here) if you don’t throw the car’s rear-end around amidst a cloud of smoke? Now that we justified Mercedes for its politically-incorrect C 63 AMG TV advert, we’ll let you follow the jump to check out the video for yourselves. -Continued

2009 Mercedes-Benz GLK Caught During The Filming Of The Sex & The City Movie!

Oh boy, I hope none of my ex-girlfriends are reading this; I just voluntarily wasted five minutes of my life watching scenes from the filming of the 'Sex & The City - The Movie'. But alas; it was for a good cause as I was tipped from a female friend of mine (it would be strange if it were a man…) that the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLK can be seen in the beginning of the clip. Apparently, the GLK is making a promotional appearance in the film, though to be honest, that could be a good enough reason for many people not to buy it… From what we’ve heard, the Mercedes’ compact SUV will make it’s public debut at the 2008 Detroit Show in January.

Thanks for the tip C!

2008 Mercedes-Benz GLK Spy Video

The highly anticipated Mercedes-Benz GLK compact SUV which is due to be unveiled this September at the Frankfurt Show was caught in this video performing the usual test runs in Nurbugring. Aimed directly towards the BMW X3 and the forthcoming Audi Q5, the GLK shares its underpinnings with the 2008 C-Class, and from what we’ve learned, it will be offered with 4-cylinder and V6 petrol and diesel engines.

Video: 2009 Mercedes E 63 AMG Spied At The Nurburgring Race Track

Spy photographers or shall we call them spy cinematographers have managed to scoop the top-version of the next generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class performing test runs around the iconic Nurburging race track in Germany. Expected to be introduced in late 2009 or early 2010, the E 63 AMG will probably retain the current model’s 514Hp strong 6.3-liter V8 upgraded though to produce around 550Hp in order to justify the 2009/2010 name tag.

Video: BMW M6 vs Mercedes CLK 63 AMG Black Series

In this video the boyz at Edmund’s Insideline pit Mercedes’ brutal 507Hp 6.3-litre V8 powered CLK 63 AMG Black Series against BMW’s savvy-tech M6 Coupe which is fitted with the same 507Hp strong V10 engine that’s used in the M5. Theoretically, the CLK 63 AMG aims head straight at the forthcoming BMW M3 CSL, but with a hefty $136,000 price tag (vs $109,000 of the specific M6), the Benz hasn’t the comfort to choose with whom it competes with. However, judging from the video, the CLK 63 AMG Black Series gives the M6 more than it bargained for.

McLaren Mercedes Ad: Fernando Alonso vs Lewis Hamilton

Under the rhythm’s of the song “Anything you can do, I can do better”, British McLaren Mercedes Formula One drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso of Spain childishly try to out do each other in McLaren Mercedes’ lightsome 60-second commercial which airs this Saturday (July 28) in Germany, Spain, and the UK. The two F1 drivers engage in a "fierce" daily competition starting off from the pits and continuing until they reach the sauna of their hotel were they meet Mika Häkkinen. Follow the jump to see the video which also includes scenes from the making of the commercial. -Click “Read More…” below to see the video along with the press release

Alonso, Hamilton, and Häkkinen: Every second is full of passion at Mercedes-Benz

  • Formula 1 drivers star in new TV commercial
  • Mercedes-Benz shows that passion is programmed into the brand’s genes
  • TV commercial will be aired next weekend to coincide with Formula 1 races

Stuttgart – In the new Mercedes-Benz TV commercial, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton reveal that they’ve got racing in their blood. In a series of amusing scenes, it becomes clear that they see themselves as friendly rivals not only on the race track but also at a hotel reception desk, at a gym, and in a sauna. In the 60-second commercial, which will be aired starting next Saturday on the most popular public and private TV channels in Germany, Spain, and the UK, Mercedes-Benz demonstrates that the fascination of auto racing is based not only on fighting spirit but also a large dose of playfulness and fun.

“Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton have a passion for auto racing,” says Norbert Haug, head of Mercedes-Benz Motor Sports. “Both of them are ambitious, focused, and competitive. They cultivate a healthy sense of rivalry and appreciate and respect each other very much. Of course this is obvious on the race track, and it was evident while we were shooting the new TV commercial, too. In spite of the time pressure and their lack of familiarity with the TV medium, they really enjoyed the shoot. Mika Häkkinen, who has won the Formula 1 championship twice, has been in commercials before, and he’s as cool and appealing as ever this time around.”

A sneak preview of the TV commercial will be available starting Friday, July 20, on Mercedes-Benz Internet TV at www.mercedes-benz.tv. The commercial will be aired here in its full length, and of course it can be replayed at any time via video on demand.

“The idea for this commercial originated in our brand philosophy,” says Dr. Olaf Göttgens, Vice President Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars. “After all, motor sports are deeply rooted in the history of Mercedes-Benz, and today they’re still an essential element of our brand’s fascination. Motor sports embody the passion that characterizes Mercedes-Benz.”

Taking a tongue-in-cheek approach, the TV commercial shows the two Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 drivers engaging in ‘fierce daily competition’. In the spot, the current Formula 1 front-runner, Lewis Hamilton, wins a race just seconds ahead of the current second-place driver, Fernando Alonso. He celebrates his triumph while he’s still sitting in the cockpit, with a broad grin and a wave of his hand. But only a short time later, as the two racers are driving back to their hotel in a Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG and a CLK 63 AMG Black Series, Hamilton is momentarily distracted by an attractive woman who happens to be passing by. Alonso quickly takes advantage of the situation and leaves his surprised colleague behind at a traffic light. The game continues when they arrive at the hotel reception desk, on the way to and from their hotel rooms, in the gym, and in the sauna. In all of these arenas, neither of the two is prepared to give way. Despite the blistering heat and their exhaustion in the sauna, each of them wants to be the winner. In the end, the driver who steals the show is the experienced professional Mika Häkkinen, who comes from Finland and therefore knows everything there is to know about saunas. But these outstanding sportsmen would not be the champions they are if they didn’t know how to “lose” with a smile once in a while - even if it’s only at a sauna.

2008 Mercedes C63 AMG Video

Since we’ve played every kind of BMW E92 M3 video that you can think of, it’s only fair that we do the same with one of its arch rivals, the promising 2008 Mercedes C63 AMG. Yes, we know that the music background is utterly annoying and we too would have preferred to hear more of the 6.3-liter V8’s “drum and bass”, but we promise that we’ll return with a proper video sooner than you think. -Click "Read More..." below to see the video

Amateurs Film The 2008 Mercedes C63 AMG

Sometimes, being in the right place at the right time pays off. Then again, my internal devil’s advocate says that these guys could have been stalking Mercedes-Benz’s testers, but in the end who cares! All that counts is that thanks to this amateur video we get a chance to see the 2008 C63 AMG up close and in action. Of course, we would have preferred a bit of silence on the amateurs behalf so as to focus our attention on the brutal 6.3-litre V8 melody rather than listen to their namby-pamby babbling, but we can’t have it all.

Top Gear Video: Future VW & Mercedes Classics

Richard Hammond recommends two German future classics: the 90’s VW Corrado VR6 and the 80’s Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 16v. As Hammond rightly points out, the trick in choosing a future classic is finding a car young enough to still be good to drive and reliable and old enough to be forgotten. And while these two German-mobiles are surely forgotten by most, they're definitely going to be sought out by collectors in the near future. -BBC does not allow Video posting, so click here to see it
